My Experience with Piano
I started playing the piano at age 5, and was instantly intrigued. My parents supported my hobby of playing the piano, and we cycled through several teachers before finding my current teacher, Elena Makarova.
The next 5-8 years, I practiced every day for at least an hour or two, in hopes of getting better. Although I was improving, and had achieved success at several competitions, piano had become like a task to me, not something I did for fun.
As a result, I played very little the next few years, from age 13-15, often times skipping practice for several days in a row. During my freshman year of high school, I quit the piano, vowing never to come back.
After a year, however, I had found a piano arrangement of popular Japanese song "Unravel" by TK. This rekindled my love for piano, and I found myself again practicing hours a day, learning new pieces and improving my old ones.
Although I'm certain that piano will never be a career for me, I hope it will continue to be an integral part of my life. I've learned a lot from my experiences playing piano, and I hope to learn even more and make new connections in the future.
